This morning the fog hung low around the lake and you can clearly see snow on all the peaks surrounding the beautiful Lake Tahoe. This is the season that we see many people traveling to the area to enjoy the snow and the adventures that accompany the white flakes.
While most travel here to enjoy all the outdoor activities, we would also love to show you your Lake Tahoe dream home. With many homes to choose from winter is one of the greatest times to buy.
Winter months are upon us as well as property prices that are more affordable, adding proof to the saying “Every winter is a buyers market”. The latest research from real estate website Zillow shows that those who buy at the peak of the market (April and May) can expect to pay a premium of $1,500 on average. Houses listed near the end of the year, on the other hand, sell for $3,100 less than average. Typically most buyers find less competition as well and more motivated sellers in the colder months – advantages that may make the buying process easier and more productive.
Looking at the numbers really show why north Lake Tahoe properties are a best buy in the off season. You can see that the average and median Single Family are all lower in the winter months:
Same with Condos in the North Lake area:
In the snowy and cold days of winter, you’ll see a property at its worst – which has a hidden upside. If you love a house in February, you’ll seriously love it the rest of the year. You’ll also get a realistic view of the home’s major systems, like the heating system, roof, gutters, and plumbing.
Buying your Lake Tahoe home before the main snow fall would be a great idea! Imagine staying in your new Tahoe home with a cozy fire going while you relax after your fun snow filled day. We want to help you find that dream home!
